DESIGN

ECOTECH’s library of pre-certified plans can rapidly accelerate you though the design phase.

Start with one of our MBIE approved MultiProof designs as a base and our picked team of approved Engineers and Consultants can quickly and inexpensively adapt it for your specific site, budget and project requirements.

We can provide you with highly detailed costings, timelines and photographic renders showing you exactly what you will be getting - making the decision to green light a project that much easier.

CONSENT

Consent for your project will be completed in three stages.

  1. Resource Consent (Land)
Our Architectural team will help you with the designs, renders and planning needed to submit a Resource Consent to your local Council.

  2. Multi-proof Certificate (Modules)
We applying to MBIE (on your behalf) for a MultiProof certificate covering the modules and connections. If you use one of our existing MultiProof certificates, the consenting process will be significantly accelerated as a MultiProof certificate is a pre-approved statement that the plans and specifications for a building complies with the NZ Building Code. Under the Building Act 2004 (as amended in 2009), Building Consent Authorities must accept a MultiProof as evidence of Building Code compliance.
If you are looking to build the same plan multiple times, only one Multi-proof consent is required

  3. Building Consent (Site works)
Your local Council will issue a Building consent for each project based on the specifics of that site.  The Building consent will include the MultiProof certificate covering the modules AND any site specific works such as foundations, services and assembly.

Order

Once consent has been issued, ECOTECH can offer you the certainty of a fixed priced build contract that you can rely on.

ECOTECH offers are range of building contracts from simple supply and install plans, to full Turnkey Contract where ECOTECH CONSTRUCTION& CIVILS manages the entire build process from site development through to the issue of the Code of Consent.

Payment is usually by Letter of Credit.

PRODUCTION

Once the order is in place, Factory production will commence. You will be provided with a production schedule that accurately details ship dates and delivery of the completed modules to your site.

A unique step in the manufacturing process is Prototyping.  Customers have the option of ordering a single module to the exact order specifications for approval, before assembly begins on the main production run. This provides an invaluable opportunity to see the module exactly as it actually will be produced, and if required, make minor modifications such as lighting, paint colours and tile choices. Fabrication typically takes 120 days from date of order. Shown below is an overview of the production process:

Site Preparation

While the Modules are in production, on-site works can commence. Completing both these stages in parallel cuts the project timeline by as much as 50%

Site Preparations use traditional building practices and can either be completed by ECOTECH CONSTRUCTION & CIVILS or your own builder. The installers with complete the foundations in preparation for the module delivery.

A typical Site Preparation includes:

SHIPPING

ECOTECH fully manages the transport of Modules from the factory to your site – including providing comprehensive insurance.

The ECOTECH modules are designed for damage free shipping. They utilise the same lifting hardware as shipping containers to allow international and local shipment without the need for specialist lifting equipment.

Modules up to 4.6m (w) x 18.5m (l) x 3.4m (h) can be transported. However local road restrictions may apply for wide or over-height loads. Transit time is approx. 22 - 25 days.

STEP SEVEN

Step 7.jpg

NZ PORT

The modules will be delivered to the NZ Port closest to your building site.

ECOTECH is responsible for all Customs and MPI clearance.

Depending on the building contract you select, GST may be payable on entry of the modules to NZ.

STEP EIGHT

Step 8.jpg

TRUCKING TO SITE

ECOTECH will arrange for the modules to be picked up from the port within 3 days of their arrival.

The modules can either be delivered direct to site or to a nearby holding yard to help flow modules in the correct volume and order to the site.

STEP NINE

Step 9.jpg

 INSPECTION & PRE ASSEMBLY

Modules will be inspected by Council Inspectors :

  • To identify any damage caused in transit (covered by insurance)

  • To positively identify the modules against the MBIE approval certificates

To reduce fall hazards, external componentry such as gutters will be installed at ground level prior to the modules being lifted into position

Step 10.jpg

ASSSEMBLY & INSTALLATION

The Modules are lifted by crane on to self-locking steel mounts that the Assembler has pre-fitted to the foundations. From there the assembly process is rapid, with modules lifted and stacked into location.

A proprietary system of fittings secure modules both horizontally and vertically. We aim to lift and install at least 12 modules per day, so progress on a development can be very swift.

To simplify consenting, some specialist works (such as installation of lifts and fireplaces) may need to be completed on site by 3rd party contractors.

A typical assembly process includes:

Code of Compliance and Handover

A formal handover will be completed with the owner or their nominated agent.  This includes a 65 point inspection check list that we will walk through together.

ECOTECH will assist you seeking a Code of Compliance Certificate for the completed project.
